A Signature (Series)

Site-specific assemblages

2012 - ongoing

A Signature is a string of spontaneous gestures derived from and for the space of the exhibition. It is a context-specific habit that the artist improvised as a result of having some expense of time while preparing for an exhibition. Like a signature quickly penned on paper, a familiar gesture that is also personalised and emblematic of the individual, Chun’s process is spur-of-the-moment and instinctive. The installation is improvised with objects found within the space. For Perfectly at Home in New City Space, Glasgow, he suspends a chair mid-air with the support of thick curtains. To freely compose in a given space requires time. In that way, A Signature is also indicative of how well-prepared the artist is for the given exhibition.
